Description
A rare, epiphytic carnivorous plant known for its vibrant dayglow magenta or purple flowers. Unlike many Mexican butterworts that grow on limestone, this species is found in the montane "cloud forests" of Central America, often growing on trees as an epiphyte.
Growth: Forms spoon shaped rosettes reach 3-4 inches in diameter in optimal conditions.
Appearance: The leaves are markedly spatulate (spoon-shaped) with incurved margins, designed to function as "raindrop traps"
Flowers: Produces stunning magenta-purple blooms almost year-round, typically taking only a brief break in late winter.
Dormancy: While moderately heterophyllous (producing different leaf types), it will only enter a true succulent dormancy if extremely moisture-stressed.
